Federal Resume Overview

Currently, there are thousands of open positions.  These positions are for all career fields, including homeland security, administration, human resources, IT, and medical fields.  The positions are located throughout the United States and worldwide.

However, applying for a Federal position is more difficult than applying for a regular civilian position.  Each Federal Government position has its own requirements, including who can apply, when you can apply, and the required documentation to apply.  These requirements can be very confusing - and if you do not follow the requirements, you will not get the job.  Career Federal Resumes can help you through this process.

Typically, a requirement for a Federal job is a resume. This resume is different than a civilian resume. The Federal Resume - whether it is an OF-612 or SF-171 replacement, or a Resumix format, contains more information than a civilian resume. It is in a specific format - as specified by the Federal Government. It needs to include the key words required for the job(s) you are applying for. It also needs to be complete, with information not typically found on a civilian resume - including social security numbers, full addresses of previous employers, supervisor names and phone numbers, and detailed listing of education and training.

In addition, the Army Resumix, Navy Resumix, and Air Force Resumix formats are very specific, both in terms of actual format and document length.  Some Federal positions require on-line applications.

Our on-line resume experts can help you with these applications - and can work with you one-on-one.

In addition to the resume, some Federal job announcements require additional statements. These statements are known as KSAs - Knowledge, Skills, and Ability statements.

If they are asked for, they are required. Typically, they are 3/4 to 1-1/2 page answers to questions related to the job you are applying for - and each KSA will be graded from 5 to 20 points per answer. They can be daunting questions to answer. We offer our expertise in writing these statements, highlighting your experience to ensure maximum KSA ranking.
